Euonymus japonicus is a very popular hedging shrub because it provides year round foliage and is well suited to all conditions (including cold, windy, coastal, exposed) and all soils (all but the wettest). The leaves are broad and oval with dark green centres, fading to light green and then with bright yellow margins. Young leaves are generally golden yellow. It provides the best variegation when grown in full sun but will also does fine in partial shade.

With glossy, green leaves and soft, leathery texture, Griselinia (Griselinia littoralis) is a lush, evergreen hedging plant that brings vibrant colour to your garden all year round. Unlike many other evergreens, Griselinia hedging has a softer, more open structure, giving it a slightly relaxed and natural feel while still providing good coverage. In the springtime, a female Griselinia hedge sometimes produces small flowers and non-toxic berries, which are great for attracting pollinators.

Laurel is quick-growing and evergreen. Laurel grows in most soils in full sun or heavy shade and can be trimmed or pruned to the required height. Large, bright green shiny leaves produce a mass of white flowers in the summer months and later develop non-edible red berries. They are easy to grow, give great privacy, and apart from trimming, very low maintenance .
